Chromebooks normally update once you power them up and connect to Wi-Fi. However, what if you want to check for updates manually? Well by following along we’re going to tell you how to do just that.
CHECK FOR CHROMEBOOK UPDATES
You’ve fired up your Chromebook and want to see if there are any pending updates to be installed. Chrome OS usually does this automatically. Though maybe you haven’t used your Chromebook for a bit or just want to make sure you’ve got the latest version of Chrome OS.
Here’s what you’ll do;
In the bottom right corner where you profile picture appears, click on it.When the menu opens, click on Settings.At the top in the middle of the Settings page, click on the About Chrome OS link. Then, the About Chrome OS window opens.Next, you’ll go down to the Check for and apply Updates button. If an update is available, you’ll see a swirling circle and updating your device text displayed. Hang tight while your Chromebook gets updated to the latest version of Chrome OS.When the update completes, you’ll be required to restart your Chromebook device. You’ll see a message with a blue check mark that says Nearly up to date! Restart your device to finish updating. Just click the Restart button and you’re Chromebook restarts and applies the update.After the restart, your Chromebook Opens the Chrome Browser for you and you’re ready to roll.
If your Chromebook is already up to date, you’ll see the blue check mark once again and it’ll say Your Chromebook is up to date. In that case, just click the done button in the lower right-hand side of the About window.
That’s all there is to it. You’ve successfully updated your Chromebook to the latest version. Anytime you want to make sure you’re Chromebook’s up to date simply follow the above steps.
